SEE - DO - TEACH

Otherwise referred to as See One, Do One, Teach One is a methodology of teaching new skills used as a best practice in the medical field and apprenticeship programs. This method of learning has been around for over 2,000 years and is still in practice across the globe today.

At Kratos BI, we strive to provide all of the necessary materials, commentary, videos, etc. to help you with the SEE phase of learning. We encourage you to take these materials, DO the activities, and then share with the community to TEACH others what you have learned.

SEE
This methodology starts with a mentor that provides guidance and walks you through how to perform a task. This guidance classically took the form of a one on one training session, but this can include instructor-led classes, videos, blog posts, or even textbooks.

On more complex tasks, it is not uncommon to have to see the task done multiple times and under many different situations.

Do not be afraid to look for additional examples, videos, or materials to help you through the SEE phase of learning.

DO
Ok, so you saw these actions done by an expert. The second step requires you to go and do the activity that you just saw done. It's time to get dirty.

To dig into the code.

To go out and try out the activity that you have just seen performed.

Under ideal situations, the person that showed you would be there to guide you through your first few attempts. With online materials, texts, etc, you are on your own.

Don't be afraid to fail fast as long as you continue to learn from your failures and keep trying until you learn how something works!

TEACH
The last step requires the student to transition to the role of teacher and explain to someone else how this activity is done. The act of teaching someone else how to do something commits the actions associated with the activity to memory.

Teaching also acts as a focal point to ensure that you understand the subject. The person you are teaching asks questions that you may not have thought of before and requires you to research and learn more about the topic.
