Tommy leads the Chicago Power BI User Group & co-hosts the Explicit Measures Podcast, releasing new episodes every Tuesday and Thursday. Tommy is constantly focused on how any report, application, or solution can change and drive behavior.
Tommy has been working in Power BI since it was known as Power BI Designer, and responsible for the implementation, adoption, and enhancements of Power BI and the impact it should have. He has led his organization on how data should be integrated, automated, and analyzed in a way that drives business and culture.
Tommy is a Microsoft MVP in the Data Platform space, a frequent speaker at User Groups, on Power BI program committee for conferences, and contributes to resources around the community via articles and speaking arrangements.
Tommy has led two 9 month programs named the Project Professional Program at both the Chicago and Tampa Power BI User Group, on how to marry the skills of a Power BI Pro via the technical and the business side of one's career. Along with this, Tommy co-hosts and helps on the Explicit Measures Podcast, which airs live episodes every Tuesday and Thursday, and available on all Podcast Platforms.
What is actually happening around the Power BI water cooler. The Explicit Measures Podcast originated out of the idea of so many good resources in the community about HOW to do something, but what about the WHY? These are discussions you may be having with other pros, at user groups, or in your own head.
From why everyone has a different opinion about a Center of Excellence to why they don’t see Advanced Analytics features in more reports, the podcast focuses on how Power BI works in the real world, and why we do what we do.
The Chicago Power BI User Group is an active community that meets once a month aimed towards building Power BI Pros who know how to build and know how to tell a story. We constantly are looking for engagement and how we can apply the tools available and build our toolbelt, and better understand when and how to use the Power BI Arsenal.
We always have a main session followed by a "Happy Hour", where anyone can join and chat with us.
Tommy is an avid, AVID New York Yankee fan (from Long Island originally) and if you ask him, he will tell you how proud of his Italian culture he is.
Tommy also refuses to make pasta with a machine (roller all the way) and uses data to slowly improve his Pizza making process.
