Scott Sewell is a Principal Program Manager on Microsoft’s Power BI Customer Advisory Team. Scott is incredibly passionate about helping Dynamics 365 and Power Apps users tap into and gain insights from the valuable data in their Dataverse environments through the magic of Power BI. Before joining Microsoft, Scott worked as a partner implementing Business Applications in organizations large and small, beginning with version 1.0 of Microsoft CRM in 2003. .
Scott enables businesses to use Power BI and Synapse to rapidly unlock the incredible value of the data held within Dataverse - with style.
After years of working with a relational model in Dataverse, it took Scott longer than he is willing to admit before he fully embraced proper analytical data modeling patterns. Once converted, though, he was filled with wonder over what is possible with relatively simple DAX. He now seeks out those still in darkness and helps lead them to the light of the True Star Schema.
Scott's first computer was a TI-99/4A, then an Apple //c in high school before upgrading to a second-hand 'Fat Mac' (with 512K of RAM) in college. Scott spent two years after univeristy in Kenya as a volunteer teacher of basic computer skills for a vocational school. (Thirty years later, he can still greet you in Swahili.) He moved from Africa to Alaska to provide IT support on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, where his coldest day on the job was -68F/-55C!
