DATA GOD OF FLOWING WINE

Miguel Llopis

Miguel is the Program Manager Lead for Power Query, M Engine/Language, Connectors & Dataflows at Microsoft. Miguel has worked on Power Query since the beginning of the project (circa 2011) and built Power Query from scratch, integrating it with Excel and Power BI Desktop.

DATA GOD QUALIFICATIONS

Miguel and team brought the FIRE of the Data Gods of Power Query to Excel, Power BI, Dataflows, Dynamics, Azure Data Factory and MUCH more. This transformative tool's broad availability and consumption transforms analysts into enterprise data engineers.

Data Analysts spend 80% of their time doing Data Preparation. They spend the other 20% of their time complaining about how hard Data Preparation was

Miguel Llopis

Because building Power Query in Desktop was so much fun, Miguel and the rest of the team decided to build Power Query a second time (on the web/Azure) and delivered Power Query Online, integrated with Dataflows in Power BI, Power Apps, Dynamics 365 Insights Applications, Azure Data Factory and more.

The Evolution and Integration of Power Query (with Miguel Llopis)

Miguel and Reid Havens discuss a variety of topics related to Power Query. As the Lead Program Manager for Power Query, M, and Dataflows at Microsoft Miguel has invaluable insight into the current and future trends of the product. Topics will include: platforms within Microsoft where Power Query is implemented, feature parity between Power BI (Desktop vs. Service), the evolution of query folding, and more!

DATA GOD FUN FACT

Miguel loves sports as much as he loves Data Wrangling with Power Query, but the two don't mix up well. Every time Miguel creates a cool demo showcasing the success of his Soccer teams (Spain's National Team, or Atletico de Madrid) or the GOAT (Rafa Nadal), their performance falls down dramatically.

Aas a result, Miguel has refrained from sports-themed Power Query demos for a few years now.
