Daniel Otykier
Daniel Otykier is the creator of
Tabular Editor - a tool for authoring Analysis Services Tabular and Power BI Data Models. He is a Principal Architect at
Kapacity, a Microsoft gold partner focusing on BI consulting in Denmark. In 2019 he was awarded the Microsoft Data Platform MVP for his work on Tabular Editor and his dedication to the Analysis Services and Power BI communities. In addition, he was invited to join the Power BI Contributor Program, where he developed the
Power BI External Tools-functionality
within Power BI Desktop. This feature was released in July 2020. Prior to working on Tabular Editor, Daniel spent his time as a BI consultant and .NET programmer.

On the personal side, Daniel is married to Tina. They live in Kolding, a city on the Jutland peninsula, with their two young daughters Maya and Frida. When not working on Tabular Editor or spending time with his family, Daniel likes to pick a new boardgame off the shelf, or read up on the latest achievements of SpaceX and NASA. This last interest comes from Daniel’s educational background in physics and astronomy.
Spending time on boring, repetitive tasks is always a struggle. Daniel is one of those people who quickly derail into procrastination, if the task at hand is too tedious or the tools used are too slow. Life is simply filled with too much interesting stuff, to be spent in front of loading screens...

DATA GOD FUN FACT
Daniel has been a glider pilot since the age of 15. He finds it amusing that regulations allowed him to pilot an aircraft at 170 mph, while his classmates were not even old enough to ride a moped. In 2019, he won a local gliding tournament.
